Hen Parties Tips

Once the chief Bride’s maid’s “esteem position” is made known to her, she has to direct her thoughts and energies to some of the key areas as below:

  1. After consulting the bride, the bride’s maid first move should be to approach the VIP and ascertain what they want from this party. The bride and the chief bride’s maid have to decide what form the celebrations are to take, e.g. horse riding, wine tasting, meal, B&B including the timescale, activities, food, accommodation, and alcohol etc.
  2. Hen parties the perfect prelude to the big day goes ahead with the bride keeping completely in the dark as to the scheme of events. Traditionally this has taken place in the weekend prior to the wedding.
  3. After consulting the bride, the guest list has to be made by the bride’s maid. Here she needs to know key factors such as the number of guest to be invited, where they live, and other special requirements, i.e. whether guests are vegetarian, teetotaler.
  4. Regarding wedding photographs, the bride has to meet with various wedding photographers and ask to see samples of their work, should also request full albums of recent weddings covered by them.
  5. Cost is an important fact to bear in mind as there will be a variety of budgets to cater for.
  6. Most brides wish to be away from home territory, therefore the location will make the bride’s maid’s task harder due to unfamiliarity.
  7. The bride’s maid has to do the research and determine the location for the wedding, then has to find out what is available – here she has to keep in mind the budget.
  8. When communicating with guests, access to a computer is a must; she should outline the proposed itinerary, date, cost, and location. Provide a tear-off slip with a "return by date," to ensures that she has a firm idea of numbers.
  9. Deposits will also be required from the guests, which will help to cut down the knock-on effect of the inevitable "non-attendees".
  10. She has to confirm all bookings, i.e. for accommodation, activities, transport, evening entertainment, food and send required deposits.
  11. Finally, she also has to write back to all guests confirming arrangements; outline where they need to be, at what time, what to pack, what to wear, and how much they still owe including any special little requirements, i.e. those "naughty" little gifts for the bride.
