Wedding vows are the all-important promises the couple makes during the wedding ceremony. The couple declares their dedication to each other by saying the wedding vows during their marriage. The couple should know and understand the promises they make on their wedding ceremony, or how long their wedding vows should last.
Wedding vows are traditional and are a great way to make the couple’s day more personal! They are all about the marriage partners - the bride and the bridegroom.
To create a wedding ceremony that truly reflects the way the couple feels about each other, (and not just saying "in sickness and in health" and all that), they could write-up their own wedding vows that can be intensely moving and absolutely intimate for them.
Wedding vows are not meant to be sickly and make everyone gush with embarrassment; also, there are no gimmicks and no set rules in them. Any couple can feel free to add their own embellishments into their wedding vows. They can identify the things that are the most important to them and can decide how best to express them at their wedding ceremony.
The wedding vows themselves should only take two or three minutes (in total) to say to each other. The couple should remember, this is a public declaration of their commitment, not a private conversation between the two of them!
Also, the couple has to make sure they will not embarrass their friends and family with details that are too intimate or lengthy when declaring their vows to each other. Sincerity is the key; the words should come from their heart.
But, if the couple is getting married in a religious setting, they have to check with the priest / vicar as they may have specific words that the couple cannot deviate from. The couple also can incorporate the wedding guests into their vows by having them respond with their blessings and support.
Every couple should feel good about their wedding vows as they are one of the greatest gifts they will ever make !
